Ralph Powell ::  Ralph has owned several accounting and brokerage businesses over the years.  Ralph attended Penn State University and obtained a degree in Business Administration.  His many years of experience came about through his involvement with various businesses including RP Associates, ESM, and Affordable Tax Preparation has given him the necessary background to handle the accounting aspect of the business in addition to his experience he owns numerous rental and investment properties giving him knowledge of the real estate and property management business.  Ralph says "I have made many investments in my lifetime and real estate is the most consistent investment of all, I am proud to be a part of this team and look forward to a prosperous future at the Shiring Realty Company.

James F. Filia  ::  Jim is a lifelong resident of the Mon Valley area.  He was born and raised in North Braddock.  After serving his country in the U.S. Navy, he attended Community College of Allegheny County and Youngstown State University.  Before deciding on attending the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science and becoming a funeral director, shortly afterwards he settled in Wilmerding to raise his family, purchasing his first business, the James F. Filia Funeral Home in 1979.

In the past 27 years, Jim has owned and operated several successful businesses in the Pittsburgh area.  One of his businesses transformed his hobby of collecting vintage sports memorabilia into one of the most successful memorabilia stores in the Tri-State area.  Jim, along with his son, Jeff, opened The Fan Club Sports Bar in Wilmerding in 1999 and it continues to be one of the Mon Valley's top sports bars.

When his friend, Jeff Schnars, was looking for a partner in purchasing the Shiring Real Estate Agency, he approached Jim to see if he knew of anyone looking to make an investment in the business.  Jim said "When Jeff mentioned real estate and the Shiring Agency, my ears perked up like they haven't in the past 10 years.  I knew immediately this was for me."  A new and exciting chapter in my life began this past January 2006.  "Without a doubt, I feel real estate is the only investment you can make today that is secure and will continue to grow for the homeowner or investor."

Jeff Schnars  ::  After growing up in Southern California, Jeff graduated High School and served 2 years in the U.S. Army then attended USC in the early 70's.  He started his real estate career in 1980 earning his Brokers License in 1998.  he has been at the Shiring Real Estate Agency since 1994.  He has a GRI (Graduate Real Estate Institute) and his CRB Designations (Certified Real Estate Brokerage Manager).
